Getting around
The roads of the Algarve and Portugal in general are very good, well maintained
with relatively little traffic. Lisbon is now 2 hrs away, a massive motorway system is
now complete linking the Algarve (east to west) and merging with the Algarve - Lisbon routes. It is
quick and easy to get around and congestion, except in the big towns, is rare.
The network of tracks is often passable in a car , though route directions are vague and cul-de-sacs
frequent!.Road map routes between the towns are good but for smaller roads and tracks can be unreliable.
We will be pleased to draw maps to help where we can.
Railways are reliable and inexpensive though perhaps slow by UK standards. Coach
and Bus services are good particularly between the larger towns.
