Silves Castle
Peculiar to Portugal is being able to cross and have access to all
countryside and farmland, they do not expect people to damage or disturb other s property. Consequently
there is a vast network of paths and tracks to explore by foot or bicycle. Nearby is the stunning scenery
of the MONCHIQUE Mountains and the BARRAGEM ARADE, a massive reservoir and dam.
Within an hour by car are all the beaches of the Algarve (many undeveloped and quiet),
also the natural parks of FORMOSA near Faro, ALVOR and at the west coast where there is the end of the
world at CAPE St VINCENT. Ten minutes by car is SILVES, the most historic town of the Algarve, dominated
by the well preserved ironstone castle. Next to it is the beautiful cathedral. Silves has many tiny cobbled
streets with houses that have not changed for centuries.
Just created is the new golf course at AMENDOEIRA (Almond Tree) which is only a ten minute drive from
here.
Only thirty minutes drive from Quinta da Vista is the PORTIMAO Racing Circuit
(AUTODROMO ALGRAVE) in the foothills of the Monchique Mountains, it's construction and all its facilities
have been of major importance to Portugal - Another great attraction to the Algarve.
