By nature the Algarvians are very generous and helpful. They are polite and courteous and will help with the language which is not easy. English is spoken very widely, more so on the coast , communication is not a problem, 'Bom Dia' for Good morning or Good day and 'obrigado' for thank you will help on all occasions. They will shake hands as soon as they meet , even the bank cashiers and the customers!
